Foothill yellow-legged frog at Little Carson Falls

Native Foothill Yellow-Legged Frog at Little Carson Falls

  • MMWD’s 2012 water main flushing program is under way in Mill Valley, Marin City and Sausalito now through March 22. Learn more
  • If you'd like to learn about and help protect native foothill yellow-legged frogs, the district will be training Frog Docents to help us monitor Little Carson Falls from March through May. Choose from one of two training sessions, either Sat., Feb. 25 or Wed., Feb. 29.  Learn more.
  • FREE MMWD Centennial Naturalist Hike: Join us Wed., Feb. 29 for a "Leap Day Frog Hike." The first part of the hike will be from 10 am to noon from Sky Oaks to Bullfrog Creek to see native turtles (parking pass required). The second hike is a more strenuous hike from noon to 2 pm to see native foothill yellow-legged frogs at Little Carson Falls. Learn more.   
  • Find ways to save water, energy and money with a FREE Green House Call from California Youth Energy Services. Learn more.
  • MMWD offers discounted rate programs for low income and medically disabled single-family residential customers who qualify. Learn more.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • February volunteer opportunities on Mt. Tamalpais.
  • Frog docent training for the 2012 season: Choose from one of two sessions--Sat., Feb. 25 or Wed., Feb. 29. Training will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting at Sky Oaks Watershed Headquarters (49 Sky Oaks Rd., Fairfax). It will include a discussion of frog biology, population threats, methods for engaging the public, and a 3-mile, round-trip, strenuous hike to Little Carson Falls. Contact volunteerprogram@marinwater.org  or 415-945-1128. Through our Conservation Assistance Program (CAP), MMWD offers FREE, personalized water use consultations for your home or business. Let one of our water conservation experts visit your property to check for leaks, evaluate your indoor and outdoor water use, and provide recommendations to help you save water and money. Note: MMWD's rebate programs are currently suspended. The Board of Directors is committed to reinstating rebates as soon as the budget allows. We will make an announcement when rebates resume. Thank you for your patience.
