Reduce Outdoor Water Use for Easy Summer Savings

Did you know outdoor water use accounts for half of all water consumed in the summer? If we each reduce the amount of water we use for irrigation by just a small amount, collectively we can save a large amount of water this summer. Studies show that up to 20 percent of outdoor water use is unnecessary, which means you can cut back your outdoor watering and your landscaping won’t suffer.

How much to water? Use the weekly watering schedule  as a guide. We update it every Friday based on actual weather conditions, so it's always current.

DFG Resumes Stocking Reservoirs with Fish; Environmental Review Process Continues

As of May 11, the California Department of Fish and Game has resumed stocking rainbow trout into Bon Tempe Lake and Lake Lagunitas, after a 6-month period of no plants. On Nov. 24, 2008, DFG was issued a court order to cease all fish stocking into many waters throughout the state, including MMWD reservoirs, while they completed an environmental review of the stocking program. The ban on stocking into Bon Tempe Lake and Lake Lagunitas was reevaluated and DFG determined that stocking could be resumed.

DFG's environmental review is related to concerns about environmental impacts from the fish-stocking program as a whole and is not specific to MMWD reservoirs. For more information on the court ruling and the status of the environmental review, visit the DFG web site at www.dfg.ca.gov, call the DFG Bay Delta Regional Office at 707/944-5500 or call Jordan Traverso, DFG Office of Communications at 916/654-9937.

During the week of May 11th, Bon Tempe Lake and Lake Lagunitas are scheduled to be planted with trout. For further information, visit the DFG stocking schedule web site or call the stocking hotline at 707/944-5581
