Friends of the Watershed
Mt. Tamalpais Watershed Fund Mt. Tamalpais holds a special place in the life and heart of Marin. A treasured landmark that defines this county, its slopes are a primary source of water for Marin residents. To the wider circle beyond Marin's borders, Mt. Tamalpais is a source of beauty, spiritual renewal and physical well-being. The watershed draws visitors from far and wide--they come to fish, hike, bike, ride horses and commune with nature in an unspoiled setting that is close to densely populated communities.
However lightly we tread, together we have a great impact on the ecosystem of the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed when we visit. Invasive, non-native plants and the need to reduce natural hazards also threaten the health of the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed ecosystem to a greater degree than was recognized previously. This understanding has prompted MMWD to create the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed Fund to help protect the vital natural resource known as the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed. Become a Friend of the Watershed Watershed visitors have the opportunity to help protect the mountain by making a tax deductible donation to the fund. Projects supported by donations to the fund are conducted with sensitivity to community concerns. The Mt. Tamalpais Watershed Fund is administered by the Marin Community Foundation, a non-profit, philanthropic organization working since 1986 to improve the human condition and enhance the quality of life. All donors to the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed Fund will become "Friends of the Watershed." You can mail your donation directly to the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed Fund, Marin Community Foundation, 5 Hamilton Landing, Ste. 200, Novato, CA 94949-8246. For more information, call the foundation at 415-464-2500.
