Bay Friendly Landscape Rebates
Bay-Friendly Landscape Rebates Please note: Program ended October 22, 2009. Materials must have been purchased by October 22, 2009. Rebate application must be postmarked by January 22, 2010. To make it easier for MMWD customers to adopt Bay-Friendly gardening practices, the district is offering rebates on efficient irrigation equipment and supplies. What Is “Bay-Friendly” Landscaping? Bay-Friendly landscaping works with nature to reduce waste and to prevent pollution of local creeks, waterways and the watersheds of the San Francisco Bay. Bay-Friendly practices foster soil health and conserve water and other valuable resources while reducing waste and preventing pollution. Bay-Friendly gardening mimics natural systems, which recycle everything—water, debris, and nutrients—endlessly. It means paying attention to climate and local conditions and using appropriate plants that are adapted to those conditions. It follows maintenance practices that support the goals of conserving resources and reducing waste. "Bay-Friendly Landscaping" is a Stopwaste.org program developed by the Alameda County Waste Management Authority and the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board.
