Do-It-Yourself Home Water Survey

Home Water SurveyThe Do-It-Yourself Home Water Survey will guide you through activities to find out how to save water at your home. Follow the steps to check for indoor and outdoor leaks, measure flow rates of your indoor plumbing fixtures, evaluate the efficiency of your irrigation system, and more. You can print out instructions for each step as needed, or click here to print the complete Home Water Survey.

To track your findings, print the Survey Form and fill it out as you work through the activities. Mail the completed form to MMWD to receive free water conservation items. If you have questions about the survey, please call us at (415) 945-1520.

Your water meter is an important conservation tool. Find out how to read your meter and determine if there is a leak in your plumbing.

Step 5: Indoor Water Use
Check the flow rates of faucets, showerheads and toilets, and see how much water you could be saving with high-efficiency fixtures and appliances.

Step 6: Outdoor Water Use
Give your irrigation system a complete check-up, find watering guidelines, and reduce water waste from your swimming pool.
