Red Flag Warning Issued - Watershed Closure Alert

By Brett Pedisich, MMWD Park Ranger

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning that will go into effect in our area at 5 p.m. on Thursday, August 6.

Per MMWD policy, all watershed lands, including the Mt. Tamalpais Watershed, will be closed to the general public and we will be restricting all automobile traffic from entering the watershed. No fires or BBQs are permitted and land use permits are suspended.

Gates to watershed lands will remain closed until 11 a.m. Friday, August 8. At that time, MMWD will check the National Weather Service advisories and determine whether the Red Flag Warning has been canceled or extended.

More information about the Red Flag Warning can be found on the National Weather Service website, here. For closure updates, call the Marin County Fire Department at (415) 499-7191 (recorded message).

We appreciate your cooperation.
