MMWD Replacing 90-year-old pipeline in San Anselmo

saffip

Beginning mid-January, MMWD will install new pipeline on Meadowcroft Drive, Morningside Drive, Brookside Drive, Stone Court and Brookside Court in San Anselmo. The new water pipeline will replace leak-prone pipe installed as early as 1928 and will be better able to withstand an earthquake and improve fire flow capacity. The project is expected to be completed in April 2018.

MMWD and the contractor, Maggiora & Ghilotti, Inc., will take all measures possible to minimize inconveniences associated with this project, including noise and traffic delays.
For questions about this project, contact the MMWD Construction Inspection Supervisor Mike Maxey at 415-945-1570 or mmaxey@marinwater.org.

About the Fire Flow Program
MMWD will be installing a larger pipe in your neighborhood to increase the water volume available for fighting fires as part of Marin's Fire Flow Program. This program was developed cooperatively by fire chiefs, county and city officials, concerned citizens and MMWD representatives. According to local fire chiefs, water availability for firefighting is one of Marin's primary public safety issues. Fire flow improvement projects will continue for the next 14 years.

About MMWD
MMWD is Marin County’s largest provider of drinking water, serving a population of 189,900 in a 147-square-mile area of south and central Marin County. The district owns and manages 21,600 acres of watershed land on Mt. Tamalpais and in west Marin. The primary source of water supply is rainfall captured in seven reservoirs, providing 75 percent of the water consumed each year. The remaining 25 percent is imported annually from the Russian River through an agreement with the Sonoma County Water Agency. MMWD also operates its own recycled water system. District operations are financed primarily by revenue from the sale of water.
