Refunds for Water Bills Paid 4.24.14 - 12.31.15

Customers of Marin Municipal Water District, who purchased water within the District’s higher water use tiers from April 25, 2014 to December 31, 2015, may be eligible for a refund of portions of the payments made during that period. 

Former Customers or Those with a Changed Address

If you have changed addresses or are a former customer who had an active account with the District during any portion of the foregoing dates, you should complete a claim form and submit it by no later than Dec. 15, 2022.  Claims received after this date will not be considered.  For questions regarding the claim process, contact the Marin Water Customer Service Department at 415-945-1400.

Current Customers

Current customers who are due this refund will see a credit applied to their  March/April water bill for portions of payments that were made to Marin Water between April 25, 2014 and December 31, 2015. In the event the amount of the credit you are due exceeds your current bill, the district will apply any remaining credits to your future bill(s). 
 

About the Refund

Pursuant to a settlement in the case of Anne Walker v. Marin Municipal Water District, the District has agreed to set up a special fund dedicated to ongoing water conservation measures within the District, as well as to provide a credit/refund to certain customers who purchased water within the District’s higher water use tiers during the period of April 25, 2014 through December 31, 2015. The credit/refund amount will be dependent upon how much water was purchased by each customer within each water use tier during the period in question.  Current customers eligible for a refund will see a credit applied on their April/May water bills.  Former customers will need to submit a claim form and, if eligible for a refund, will be issued a refund check for eligible claims filed before October 15, 2022.
