Frog Docent Program - Training #2
Saturday, March, 12, 9 - 10:30 a.m.
Love the outdoors? Wish you could make a difference by helping protect your local watershed, but not sure where to start? Become a community scientist with Marin Water’s Frog Docent Program! Every year, we train volunteers to monitor frog habitat conditions and educate hikers who visit Little Carson Falls, a popular hiking destination located about five miles outside of Fairfax. Docents speak with visitors during the spring when eggs and tadpoles are vulnerable to disturbance by visitors. A two-part virtual orientation will acquaint volunteers with the program. Docents typically work at least three weekend shifts between March and June.
Part 1: The Educational Session takes place on Saturday, March 5, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. and will cover the importance of wildlife conservation, the biology of the species, and how to identify these amphibians. If you are unsure if you want to participate in the program this year, this training is an excellent opportunity to get your questions answered!
Part 2: Docent Technical Training takes place on Saturday, March 12, from 9 - 10:30 a.m, and will be technical training for those who are interested in becoming a docent. Safety protocols, interaction with visitors, and available equipment will be covered, plus more.
