As part of our commitment to delivering high quality, reliable water to our central and southern Marin County customers, Marin Water performs regular water main cleaning on a portion of our pipeline infrastructure. Also known as “flushing,” water main cleaning is required by state of California and the American Water Works Association.

The process involves the targeted release of pressurized water through select hydrants to scour pipes and remove built-up sediment. Each year, Marin Water strives to clean 20% of our 109-mile pipeline network. This year’s cleaning work will take place Feb. 5-14, and will target the communities of Corte Madera, Tiburon and Belvedere. Residents may notice some discoloration during the process.

Review the schedule to determine when your area will be impacted:

Feb. 5-6 – Larkspur and Corte Madera

Feb. 7 – Greenbrae

Feb. 8 – San Clemente, Paradise, Ring Mountain, Christmas Tree Hill

Feb. 13 – Downtown Tiburon, Belvedere, Lower Hacienda Drive

Feb. 14 – Belvedere High School, Sugar Loaf Drive, Hill Haven, Madera Park, Scott Highlands Middle School

Feb. 15 – Strawberry

Feb. 16 – Tiburon Peninsula
