This project includes the installation of approximately 6,470 feet of 18-inch, 16-inch, 12-inch, 8-inch, 6-inch and 4-inch welded steel pipe in the City of San Rafael. Work will take place adjacent to Point San Pedro Road, on Lochinvar Road and Knight Drive. The existing pipeline in this area was installed in 1954. This aging infrastructure will be upgraded with seismically resilient, welded-steel pipe, improving water quality now and in the future.

Construction Update (Aug. 4, 2025)The contractor began installing mainline pipe on June 12, and is continuing to install water mains, averaging 185 feet of pipeline installation per day. Project completion is scheduled for January 2026. |

Investing in your water system
The Glenwood Pipeline Replacement Project replaces aging infrastructure as part of the District's Capital Improvement Program, and is also part of the Fire Flow Improvement Program. Developed together with city and county officials, area fire chiefs and residents, and approved by voters, the Marin Fire Flow Program is being implemented by Marin Water over the next 15 years to address a key public safety concern in the region.
