Project Description

The purpose of this project is to replace approximately 27,600 feet of 33-inch ACCP with 36-inch welded pipe raw water transmission line from Shafter Bridge to Gun Sight Fire Road. This project will also replace two creek crossings that convey water from Kent and Nicasio to the San Geronimo Water Treatment Plant within this same project limit. The two sections of pipe at these creek crossing have been identified as being within the 100-year floodplain and could be compromised during a 100-year storm event. They are also a component of the District's Fire Flow Improvement Program.

Benefits

This project will replace aging, leak prone, seismically deficient pipe with new seismically resilient welded steel pipe and provide two new creek crossing structures to ensure the raw water transmission line is not affected by the 100-year storm and will continue to provide water to the San Geronimo Water Treatment Plant. The San Geronimo Water Treatment Plant is critical to the District’s potable water supply.
