Project Description

This project is intended to upgrade PG&E electrical systems and a District pump station to allow Marin Water to operate the remote pump station without renting generators. This pump station is used to pump raw water from Soulajule Reservoir to Nicasio Reservoir, giving the District greater operational flexibility.

Benefits

The project will improve the operability and flexibility of District storage facilities by allowing the District to operate the pump station without the use of rental generators. The rental of large generators and fuel supply is cost prohibitive for routine use. Electrifying the pump station will set the District up with improved efficiency for long-term operating models. The Soulajule Electrification Project is part of Marin Water's Strategic Water Supply Roadmap, which includes a robust mix of short-term water supply strategies, as well as pre-design work to support medium- and longer-term strategies.
