Project Description

This project includes system improvements at the Phoenix Transfer Pump Station, including a new raw water pump station and installation of approximately 7,700 feet of 12-inch pipe to allow for pumping of Phoenix Lake water into Bon Tempe Reservoir.

Collage shows a building and concrete pad on left, and a map with a orange box displaying a "proposed pump station."

Benefits

Connecting these two Mount Tamalpais Watershed reservoirs will increase operational efficiency by allowing more frequent use of Phoenix Lake water without intensive system modifications. This will ultimately yield a potential increase of 260 acre-feet of water into Bon Tempe Reservoir each year, improving drought resiliency. The Phoenix-Bon Tempe Connection Project is part of Marin Water's Strategic Water Supply Roadmap, which includes a robust mix of short-term water supply strategies, as well as pre-design work to support medium- and longer-term strategies.
