Marin Water’s Statement in response to a Temporary Restraining Order issued Oct. 3, 2024, preventing the start of the District’s new Trail Sharing Pilot and E-Bike Class I Trial programs on the Mount Tamalpais Watershed:

Following the Marin Water Board of Directors approval of the Trail Sharing Pilot and E-Bike Class I Trial programs on the Mount Tamalpais Watershed, Marin Water has been working diligently to prepare for implementation of both programs, which were set to begin this week.

Last week, Marin Water was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for Excellence in Education and Promoting WaterSense Labeled Products.

Changes align District with the state, simplify requirements for new construction

Corte Madera – The Marin Water Board of Directors on Tuesday adopted changes to the District’s water efficiency rules to simplify and streamline local efforts to reduce water use.

Creek Notes: Construction Begins on Project to Support Endangered Species in Lagunitas Creek

Construction is well underway for Phase 1A of Marin Water’s Lagunitas Creek Watershed Enhancement Project, which aims to improve habitat for endangered coho salmon and California freshwater shrimp, as well as threatened steelhead trout populations.

Mt. Tam Watershed – The Pine Mountain Tanks Project, a multi-year effort to replace the aging Pine Mountain Tunnel’s use as a water storage facility with two, 2-million-gallon concrete tanks, is entering its Year 2 construction window.

Occasionally, during the warmer months, some customers experience a different taste or odor in their drinking water. Some describe the water as tasting and smelling earthy or musty. This temporary change is caused by naturally occurring compounds produced by algae growth which occurs in some areas of our reservoirs during sunnier times of the year.

Marin Water, North Marin Water District customers eligible for larger rain catchment system rebates 

San Rafael, CA – There are better deals available now for Marin County residents and businesses to collect rainwater for reuse around the yard. Thanks to a recent decision by the Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors, the county’s two largest water districts are now offering enhanced incentives for rainwater collection systems.
